Commander: The Early Days Once the Commander precon decks came out, it was obvious that Wizards was starting to consider Commander fans when designing their legendary creatures
Crucially, starting an engine is a state-based action that happens as soon as you control a permanent with the ability, making it exceptionally difficult for an opponent to interact with via the stack
These Commander decks let you jump into the action and play with friends, either commanding the forces of the Mirran resistance with Rebellion Rising or compleating the game in style with true Phyrexian prowess using Corrupting Influence
I love it when you can just see the rarity push differences, plain as day
Plus a lot of ramp so that it can be cast for a huge X to be more effective
This will often leave you on the back foot, especially on the draw, constantly playing catchup to your opponents' early drops in aggressive decks
